Finding the Perfect Table
I started with an old table I didn’t know what to do with. It had been collecting dust in a corner, and I decided to give it a new purpose. The first step was to paint it brown to give it a fresh look. Next, I added twine around the legs for cat scratchers. I only covered the front legs, leaving the back legs plain. This setup gave my cats a perfect place to scratch and play.
Creating Privacy Panels
One of my favorite features is the privacy panels which provide the cats with a cozy hideaway. These panels are removable, allowing for easy cleaning. I sewed the fabric using a sewing machine, but if you can’t sew you can use fabric glue. This method is simple and effective for those who don’t have sewing machines or skills.
Adding a Disney Touch
I wanted the cat tree to look like it came from a Disney cartoon. While I’m not an artist, I used a paint pen to create little line marks on the wood, making it resemble cartoon wood. After that, I sealed the table with a clear coat to protect my artwork.

Building Different Levels
To make the cat tree more interesting I added more platforms. I went to Home Depot, bought some wood, and used my drill to assemble the new layers. The great thing about Home Depot is that they will cut the wood for you, making the process much easier.
Assembling the Cushioned Top
I wanted to cover the tree with carpet but couldn’t find small pieces, so I opted for fake fur. I bought a cushion from a local fabric store and glued the fur to it. Then I stapled the cushion to the wood using a staple gun, ensuring it was secure and comfortable for my cats. To attach it to the table I drilled holes in the table and used screws to hold the small bench in place
Creating Scratch Posts and Platforms
I used regular plain two-by-fours and covered them in scratching post material. Giving my cats plenty of surfaces to scratch.
Tree Topper Final Touches
For the top part of the tree, I used pool noodles. I cut them into small sizes and glued them to poster board. I then covered them with leaves for a more realistic effect. Then I found some adorable lanterns at the Dollar Tree and added them to the cat tree for a whimsical touch. To light them up, I used regular Christmas lights. I then ran a drop cord behind a cloth panel to keep everything neat and tidy.
