Three super easy DIY cat toys you can make with things you already have around the house.
3 Easy DIY Cat Toys
1. DIY Puzzle Feeder with a Toilet Paper Roll
This one is almost too easy.
Grab an empty toilet paper roll. (You know you have at least three floating around.) Cut a few small holes in it just big enough for dry treats or kibble to fall out. Then fold the ends closed.
Boom. You’ve got a puzzle feeder.
Not only does this keep your cat busy, but it also taps into their natural hunting instincts. When it’s empty, just refill it. This takes seconds to make and costs you nothing.
2. Cat Kicker Toy Made From an Old Sock
If your cat is part kangaroo like mine, you need a kicker toy.
All you need is an old sock. (Please, for the love of catnip, wash it first.) Stuff it with cotton balls, fabric scraps, or even old toys they’ve stopped playing with. I like to toss in a ball with a bell or something crinkly for that extra fun factor.
Next, add a bit of catnip, tie the end shut with a ribbon, and you’ve got a homemade kicker toy.
You can even get crafty and draw a little face on it or turn it into a cute creature if you’re feeling fancy.
3. Box City – The Ultimate Free Cat Playground
Listen, if you’ve got cardboard boxes piling up do not throw them away. Turn them into a full-blown cat city.
Cut doors, tunnels, stack them, line them up, and throw in a blanket or a few toys. You’ve now got a custom cat jungle gym made entirely out of free stuff.
If you’re low on boxes, check your local grocery store’s produce section.
*Make sure nothing leaked in them before bringing one home.
Move your cat’s boxes every couple of weeks to new spots in the house to keep things exciting.
